iOS App Privacy Policy
How Blue Dot Weather handles information in its iPhone and iPad app.
Effective date: August 24, 2026
Last updated: August 30, 2026
Scope and operator
This policy applies to the Blue Dot Weather app for iPhone and iPad, including its widgets. Blue Dot Weather is operated by Antle Ventures LLC. It explains what the app collects, how information is collected and used, when service providers process it, how long it is retained, and the choices available to you. The separate website privacy policy covers the Blue Dot Weather website, including website cookies and advertising.
Information needed to provide the app
- Locations and searches: locations you search for, select, or save, including submitted search text and destination details.
- Device location: precise device coordinates when you grant iOS location permission and ask the app to use your location. You can deny permission and search manually instead.
- Weather requests and preferences: the location, forecast options, saved locations, widget configuration, and other settings needed to deliver requested features.
- Operational information: basic request, response, security, and error information needed to deliver the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
The app does not require an account. Saved locations, preferences, cached forecasts, and the pending analytics queue are stored on the device or in the app's shared widget container as needed for app functionality.
Optional analytics and personalization
Before optional analytics begin, the app presents a choice. If you select Allow Analytics & Personalization, Blue Dot Weather may collect the following information and link it to a random app-installation identifier:
- Identifiers and session context: a random installation identifier, session identifier, launch and session sequence, first-install timing, acquisition context when available, and activation milestones.
- Product interaction: screens and features used, actions and outcomes, time spent in detail views and dashboard sections, navigation depth, saved-location activity, radar use, graph selections, feedback-flow activity, and widget configuration.
- Search history and destinations: submitted searches and selected, displayed, or saved destination details.
- Precise displayed location: coordinates for device, searched, selected, and saved locations displayed in the app, together with location source, reported accuracy, authorization precision, label, city, state, ZIP code, and time zone when available.
- Device and app information: app version and build, device family and hardware model, screen characteristics, available memory category, iOS version, locale, runtime environment, and release channel.
- Weather and diagnostic context: temperature, apparent temperature, condition, precipitation probability, humidity, air quality, alerts, selected graph metric, loading outcomes, errors, and other operational context associated with an interaction.
The app's analytics system does not store IDFA, advertising identifiers, or identifiers used for tracking activity across other companies' apps or websites. The analytics Worker does not persist request IP addresses or user-agent headers in Blue Dot Weather analytics datasets. Cloudflare may process network metadata separately as part of hosting, delivery, security, and abuse prevention.
Feedback and screenshots
When you choose to submit feedback, the app collects the feedback text, selected category, app and device diagnostics, relevant weather and location context, and contact information you voluntarily include. You may optionally select a screenshot through Apple's photo picker. The app submits a screenshot only when you choose it and send the feedback. If direct submission is unavailable, the app may open an email draft for you to review and send.
How information is used
- Provide weather, radar, alerts, air-quality information, astronomy features, widgets, saved locations, and related app functionality.
- Measure audiences, engagement, retention, feature adoption, conversion paths, regional demand, reliability, and performance.
- Personalize, develop, test, maintain, and improve the app and its services.
- Plan and evaluate Blue Dot Weather marketing, first-party advertising, promotions, and future monetization features.
- Respond to feedback, support, privacy, security, and legal requests.
- Protect users, the app, and supporting systems from fraud, abuse, attacks, and unlawful activity.
Advertising and tracking
The current iOS app does not include a third-party advertising SDK, access IDFA, provide app analytics to third-party advertising networks, or track activity across other companies' apps or websites. App analytics may be used for Blue Dot Weather's own analytics, personalization, market analysis, advertising, marketing, and promotions.
If Blue Dot Weather later introduces an activity that constitutes tracking, targeted advertising, a sale, or sharing under Apple policy or applicable law, we will update this policy and App Store disclosures and provide any required permission or choice before that activity begins.
Service providers and data sources
We use service providers to operate the app. They may process information only as needed to provide services to Blue Dot Weather and under applicable contracts, terms, and privacy obligations:
- Cloudflare: app hosting, APIs, content delivery, security, queryable analytics in D1, and archived analytics in R2.
- Airtable: user-initiated feedback and optional screenshot processing.
- Apple: app distribution, operating-system services, location permission, widgets, and the system photo picker.
- Weather, map, air-quality, and imagery sources: NOAA and the National Weather Service, EPA AirNow, Open-Meteo, NASA, the U.S. Naval Observatory, OpenStreetMap contributors, and other sources identified in the app's Data Sources section. These services may receive location or request information needed to return requested content.
We require service providers that receive personal data from us to protect it consistently with this policy, applicable law, and the protections required by Apple's App Review Guidelines. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, with your direction or consent, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of business assets. We do not currently sell iOS app analytics or provide it to third-party advertising networks.
Data retention
- Unsent analytics events remain on the device for up to 7 days while analytics are allowed.
- Queryable raw analytics events are retained in Cloudflare D1 for 180 days.
- Compressed full-fidelity analytics archives are retained in Cloudflare R2 for 36 months.
- Install profiles, daily session and activity records, and per-install event summaries are retained for 5 years after the installation's last activity.
- Consent records are retained for 7 years.
- Daily business and market metrics that do not contain the installation identifier may be retained until Blue Dot Weather adopts a different business retention period.
- Feedback text and optional screenshots are generally retained for up to 24 months, or longer when reasonably needed to resolve a request, maintain business records, prevent abuse, or comply with law.
- On-device preferences and cached app data remain until removed by the app, cleared by the operating system, or deleted when you remove the app.
Your choices and control
- Select Use Essential Only on the first-launch privacy prompt to use the app without optional analytics.
- Change your choice at any time under Menu → Help & Legal → Privacy Choices. Turning analytics off removes pending analytics from that device and stops future optional collection.
- Change precise-location permission in iOS Settings or use manual location search without granting device-location access.
- Choose whether to attach a screenshot when submitting feedback.
- Use Request Data Deletion under Privacy Choices or email [email protected] to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.
The app's deletion-email shortcut includes its random analytics identifier so we can locate associated raw events, archives, profiles, activity, and consent records. Deletion removes matching installation-linked records from D1 and R2. Aggregated business and market totals that no longer contain the identifier cannot be connected back to an installation. We may retain information when required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal claims.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport, access controls, authenticated administrative deletion, limited production access, rate limiting, and defined retention controls. No internet or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
Blue Dot Weather is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app, business, or legal requirements change. The updated page will show a new last-updated date. If a change materially expands optional app collection or use, the app will present an updated choice when required before the expanded collection begins.
